One of the more “fun” pieces I recently had the opportunity to cover for Diabetes Daily was meter accuracy.
“To be fair, all blood glucose meters will only be accurate to the nearest 1 mmol/L (18 mg/dL) of a laboratory result. Which explains why two simultaneous blood glucose checks will likely produce two different results.
Most blood glucose meters must have a mean absolute relative difference (MARD) within 15 to 20 percent of laboratory results. This standard deems these devices a reliable indicator of blood glucose levels and safe to dose insulin from.
Which blood glucose meter can I trust? I conducted an experiment of sorts at home comparing all of the blood glucose monitoring devices that I currently use.”

I have tried 6 meters the closest to the right reading I have
found is the Accu-Check Guide the worst is the Verio
Being on a pump I test six to eight times a day.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Brian! I trust my AccuChek Guide more than I do the others, too.

I’ve found the Accu-Check (can’t remember which model) closest to the my HBa1c result. I’ve repeated the experiment and it outperformed my other meters both times.

I get more consistency from the AccuChek Guide. If I test twice in a row, the results are usually near identical. I just trust it more than I do the others.

Sorry, I meant my fasting or random glucose. My apologies.

My favorite is the Bayer Contour Next link. I have found it takes about the best, second is the Accu-Chk Glide.
